Honorable Men and Women of the Republic,

These are changing times. I remember decades ago when vast empires ruled the globe and now, I am afraid to say that we are one of the last. Although we have avoided the great war, its effects nonetheless impacted us just as much as our Western European neighbors. There have been cries from former European powers to allow democracy to reign as well as pressures from internal communist movements, both advocating the decolonization of our empire.

Remember that we should never allow ourselves to submit to them. Our survival depends on it.  This is our chance to prove to both sides that Portugal is strong and does not need help or forced change from outsiders.
