Iron Fists and Silk Roads: The Cabinet of Shavkat Mirziyoyev (Uzbekistan)
President Karimov was the father of our Nation, leading us for twenty five years after the collapse of the U.S.S.R. Though his death will sit heavy in our hearts, we must not be blinded by grief. Uzbekistan stands on the edge of the future. After centuries of neglect from the Russians and the Soviets, the gem of the silk road is beginning to shine again. No longer will our economy toil for an external power. The West seeks our partnership and the Chinese offer to lift us up. But as the sun rises, it also sets. More and more Uzbeks are falling prey to radicals and seek to upend what so much blood and sweat has wrought. We know not what the future holds, except for one thing: Uzbekistan will not allow itself to be subjugated again, and will bend to our will any power that seeks to weaken us.
